About Lynda
Lynda grew up in Salem, Oregon and married her high school sweetheart. They have been married for over 30 years. They live on a small acreage outside of Salem in what was once the town of Eola. It was in this location that they raised their son and daughter.
A native Oregonian, Lynda grew up exploring the state that she lives in. Her family went camping and fishing all over the state. It was probably this early experience that has given her a love of the outdoors and of nature.
Today Lynda loves to spend time with her granddaughter and with her husband, touring the western United States on their 1800 Goldwing motorcycle. Many of these trips are the inspiration for her kilnformed art pieces.
About working with Glass
I really love the challenge of working with glass, it seems I'm always trying to get it to do something that it really doesn't want to do. I have always loved to build things and glass is a very hands-on construction process. With the addition of kilnformed glass there is also the science of glass and understanding how it reacts to the heating and cooling processes that take place in a kiln. Glass always amazes me, no matter how long you have worked with it you never seem to have it completely under your control. That makes it continually exciting to work with.
Then there are the colors. Glass, because it has both its reflected and transmitted color it is always changing, alive! It has a richness that isn't possible with paint.
