When I saw the rhubarb shift glass by Bullseye Glass it just reminded my of the gray days of February and I so I created this plate that captures that grayed Oregon feeling.
To create the repeating pattern I employed a method called pattern bars. Strips of glass are cut into various widths. These strips are then stacked up and fired in a kiln to create blocks of glass. The blocks are then cut into slices with a tile saw. The slices are then arranged on a base piece of glass and fired in a kiln to create the look you see in the picture.
